Acceptable use policy

What this covers
These rules apply to everything you do with Kestrel: the prompts you write, the images and video you upload as references or sources, and everything you generate, keep or share. They form part of our terms of service. The model providers behind each model have usage policies of their own, and those apply too.
Never allowed
- Sexual content. Nudity, sexually explicit or sexually suggestive imagery, pornography and fetish content — of anyone, real or fictional, drawn, rendered or photographic. Kestrel is not an “uncensored” or “unfiltered” generator and does not offer NSFW generation of any kind.
- Anything sexualising minors. Zero tolerance. We report it to the authorities.
- Deepfakes without consent. Putting a real person into an image or video, swapping them for someone else, or making them appear to say or do something they did not — unless every person shown has agreed. The rules for when they have are below.
- Impersonation and deception. Content designed to pass as a real person, organisation, news event or official document; fake evidence; disinformation about elections, public health or emergencies; scams and fraud.
- Harassment and hate. Content that threatens, bullies or demeans a person, or attacks people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation.
- Violence and harm. Gore, content that glorifies real violence or terrorism, content that promotes self-harm or eating disorders, and instructions for weapons or other activity likely to cause serious harm.
- Illegal content and other people’s rights. Anything unlawful where you or we are, and anything that infringes copyright, trade marks, privacy or publicity rights — including uploading images of people without their permission.
- Getting around the rules. Rewording, encoding or splitting a prompt to slip past screening, or using the Service to build a product that does any of the above.
Swapping a real person into a video
Some tools put the person from your photo into a video you upload, in place of someone in it. You may use them only when all of these are true:
- Everyone has agreed. You have permission from the person in your photo and from every identifiable person in the video — including the one being replaced. You confirm this before each generation, and we keep a record of that confirmation.
- Nobody is a minor. No one in the photo or the video is under 18.
- No public figures. Not politicians, celebrities, influencers or anyone else whose likeness is publicly known.
- Nothing sexual, harmful or misleading. The result is not sexual or suggestive, does not mock, harass or humiliate anyone, and is not presented as real footage of something that did not happen. If you publish it, make clear it was made with AI.
Anyone who appears in a result and did not agree can ask us to remove it — see below — and we will act on it and may close the account that made it.
How it is enforced
Every prompt is screened automatically before it reaches a model. A prompt that fails screening is refused, nothing is generated, and no credits are used — the composer tells you, and you can reword it.
Screening catches most things, not everything, and passing it does not make content acceptable. You remain responsible for what you create. If we find content or use that breaks these rules, we may remove it, suspend or close the account, and report unlawful material to the authorities.
Reporting something
If you come across content made with Kestrel that breaks these rules, or you believe your likeness has been used without your consent, write to support@kestrel.video. Include a link or description and we will act on it.
